Film trailer and poster design for a theatre production
Dan Lewis-Jones
We were recently asked to create a poster, trailer, and photoshoot for the fabulous play “Ghost Stories at the Grapes.”
For the trailer, we envisioned a slow pan down from an ornate Jacobean ceiling, with intricate patterns barely visible in the dim moonlight. The camera descends to reveal the back of a solitary figure, illuminated by the flickering glow of a single candle at a writing desk. The tension builds as the figure’s hands twist and squeeze a length of rope, setting a chilling tone and suggesting a tale of intrigue and dark deeds.
For the poster, we imagined a hand-drawn, ghostly illustration that invites the onlooker from the outside in. A silhouette of a man is framed in the window, his outline a shadow against the dim interior light. The most striking detail—a splash of blood on the glass—hints at the horror that lies within. This stark image promises a story that will haunt the viewer, steeped in mystery and the macabre.
